Bringing Lake Como to Life with Immersive Event Design

The Challenge

HI Events engaged Microhire to produce a spectacular themed opening night for Harvey Norman’s conference delegates. The brief was to create a memorable experience that would transform the venue into a stunning Italian-inspired setting. The concept, “An Evening on Lake Como,” needed to complement the ballroom’s architecture while delivering theatrical impact and visual elegance.

The Solution

Microhire delivered full creative production, including:

Concept and Theme Design
- Developed the Lake Como theme and layout in collaboration with HI Events
- Created a custom floor plan centred on a dramatic sunken piazza
- Designed a striking fountain and indoor garden as the visual centrepiece
Styling and Visual Atmosphere
- Sourced modern Italian-style furniture and layered décor to complete the Loggia concept
- Built a themed, fully functional bar with theatrical props for guest interaction
Lighting and Technical
- Designed a programmable lighting system to evolve the mood throughout the evening
- Delivered scenic lighting sequences to enhance the architectural features and event flow
Logistics and Coordination
- Managed venue liaison and all staging supplier logistics
- Oversaw bump-in and technical delivery to ensure flawless execution
