A New Era of Event Capability Is Arriving at the Royal ICC
Building on a relationship spanning over a decade, Microhire is proud to continue delivering tailored audio visual and event staging services across the iconic Royal ICC and wider Brisbane Showgrounds precinct.
As part of this renewal, Microhire is rolling out a suite of upgrades designed to give event organisers more creative flexibility, customisation, and impact than ever before.
Elevating Event Possibilities Across the Venue
At the heart of this investment is a spectacular 24 metre wide LED wall, mounted on over 60 metres of tracking to enable seamless repositioning across spaces. With nearly 12 million pixels, this system offers razor-sharp clarity for content-rich activations, immersive brand moments, and large-scale plenary presentations.
These advanced LED walls will be available not only in the main halls but also across foyers and meeting rooms. In total, more than 60 square metres of additional LED display surface is being introduced, including individual 4 metre by 2.25 metre LED walls in each breakout space. These are ideal for workshops, hybrid sessions, or custom-format setups.
The venue’s audio infrastructure is also receiving a significant uplift. A new line array speaker system will be installed in the main hall, offering crystal-clear sound with multiple configurations to suit everything from keynote addresses to multi-zone activations.
Lighting is set for a dramatic enhancement as well. More than 300 intelligent moving head fixtures will be added, giving lighting designers a versatile toolkit to create everything from refined atmospheres to high-energy show lighting. Every lighting plan can be tailored to the mood and scale of each event.
Designed for Seamless, Scalable Delivery
Whether it’s a large-scale conference, gala dinner, trade show, or product launch, these investments will enable even more seamless and scalable delivery across every space within the Royal ICC and Brisbane Showgrounds.
Installation of the new technology will begin in late 2025. A staged approach will ensure there is no disruption to the venue’s robust calendar of events.
”We’re excited to extend our partnership with Microhire, a company that understands the unique demands of our venues and consistently delivers above and beyond. Our partnership has thrived since its inception in 2013, and we’re proud to see it evolve to meet the future of live events. The technology investment will allow us to offer even more creative and impactful experiences for our clients, reinforcing the Brisbane Showgrounds as a premier destination for events of all sizes.
