Margaret Court Arena

Staging the First Corporate Gala at Melbourne’s Premier Arena

The Challenge

Microhire was engaged to deliver full technical production for the Committee for Melbourne’s 30-Year Celebration, the first gala dinner held inside the newly redeveloped Margaret Court Arena. The brief called for a high-impact experience that matched the prestige of the occasion, with detailed coordination across venue, catering, and production teams in a space not yet proven for formal events.

The Solution

Microhire delivered complete technical production for the event, including:

Staging and Visuals
- Designed and installed a wide-format projection screen as the visual centrepiece
- Developed a stage layout and draping plan to suit the venue’s large open floor
Lighting and Atmosphere
- Programmed a custom lighting show using the arena’s in-built fixtures
- Enhanced the ambience with tailored lighting design to support speeches, performances, and atmosphere transitions
Audio and Communication
- Delivered a full arena audio system with backup coverage
- Provided show comms, talkback, and on-site crew communication systems
Production and Crew
- Supplied seven show operators, two camera operators, and full technical support
- Coordinated setup, operation, and pack-down with catering, security, and venue teams
