Bringing Australian Art to Life at the World HR Congress

The Challenge

The Australian Human Resources Institute engaged Microhire to deliver full creative and technical production for the HRIZON Gala Dinner at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event required transforming four exhibition halls into an immersive experience inspired by Charles Billich’s artwork, which was being presented for the first time at a private event.

The Solution

Microhire delivered an end-to-end production across creative, visual and technical elements:

  • Staging and Visuals
    • Designed a showpiece circular truss above the central stage, wrapped in sharkstooth scrim
    • Projected landscape patterns and colour onto the scrim to reflect the Australian theme
    • Installed three 20-metre-wide projection screens showcasing Charles Billich’s artwork
    • Integrated handpicked prints into table decor for a cohesive visual theme
  • Lighting and Audio
    • Designed a lighting show that highlighted the room’s structure and art-inspired concept
    • Supplied full audio coverage for speeches, performers and band
  • Creative and Technical Delivery
    • Managed overall room layout and creative design, including theme development
    • Designed and installed two central stages to support performances and presentations
    • Draped all halls in black for a theatrical finish and sourced furniture to suit the styling
    • Produced all video content for the screens and coordinated all technical execution

The Solution

  • Delivered a visually immersive gala dinner for an international audience
  • Seamlessly merged large-scale AV production with fine art and bespoke theming
  • Supported high-profile performances from Jessica Mauboy and the Jason Coleman Dance Troupe
  • Received exceptional feedback from the client and guests for the creative impact and technical delivery
